During this topic, I learned how a class can change the way you think and even influence your life. The people in this class helped shape my perspective, and my way of thinking became very different from when I first started the course.
I remember my first day in this class very clearly. I was extremely nervous because I did not know anyone, and I did not know what to expect from the professor. The professor is serious and professional. When an assignment is not done correctly, he explains what is wrong but also gives opportunities to improve. In this class, we learned how to improve our essays, participation, and writing, as well as how to work in a more professional way.
At the beginning of the semester, I believed college classes would be similar to high school, where teachers focus on making sure students understand the material. However, I quickly realized that college requires more independence. The professor assigns the work, and it is the student’s responsibility to complete it at a high level. I also thought making friends would be easy, but adjusting to new classmates, schedules, and teaching styles was more challenging than I expected. I often hesitated to ask questions because I was shy and afraid of being judged.
Throughout this course, I developed important skills such as communication, teamwork, participation, and using credible sources professionally. My strengths included listening carefully, asking classmates for help when I had questions, and completing my assignments. Although participation and time management were challenging at times, the professor was always supportive and responsive to my emails.
This class helped me improve my writing by teaching me to view assignments as professional work and to express my ideas honestly. If I could change anything, I would participate more in class discussions and communicate more confidently with my peers. Overall, this course helped me grow both academically and personally as a college freshman.
